CASL: Virgie Blog: "Blogging is a great way to share information and ideas. As we begin to implement the Assessment Literacy Initiative required by KDE we will ..." It would be a working classroom. One that is rich in manipulatives as well as printed resources. Walls with posters to help with processes. The classroom should have materials for experimenting or hands on projects as well as printed materials for research. It wold be a place where learning is a cooperative effort and the teacher would be the facilitator.
An assessment literate classroom is one in which assessments are utilized to deliver instruction, in addition to evaluating progress. The assessment results are used to plan instruction and to evaluate teacher effectiveness. Timely feedback on all assessments ensures learning will occur. Most assessments are formative and should be used to promote student achievement. The GRE is one test that I hope is summative although I did learn from it, but I just learned I didn't know much.
